Policy Makers, Poland: 'Borderland' Project in the small community of Sejny

In the small Polish town of Sejny near the Polish-Lithuanian border close to Belarus and Russia several nationalities mixed and lived together peaceful for centuries: Polish, Germans, Russians, Jews, Lithuanians, Muslim Tartars. Only in the 19th century with increasing nationalism tensions teared them apart. Krzysztof Czyzewski (born in 1958) started his Foundation Pogranicze (Borderland) for Arts, Culture and Nations to reconciliate the different groups and enjoy the diversity in this region of Poland. He argues: " The real day-to-day work is done not in capitals but small communities with a pragmatic approach including tragic memories."
